How do you deter pigeons without deterring other birds?

Question:I love all the birds I feed but recently some pigeons decided they like to eat off my balcony too. I want to keep the feeders but don't want the pigeons.

Answers:
Unfortunately, from experience, anything that will deter the pigeons will also deter the other birds. String up an old cd, like the AOL CDs you get in the mail, so that it spins in the breeze, or an aluminum pie tin. but as I said, if it scares off or deters the pigeons, it will also deter other birds.

I'm sorry that this may not be the answer you were hoping for.

Good luck.

Don't feed wild animals. You need to get that. This causes trouble.
Can you put something under the feeders to catch spilled seed ? Pigeons & Mourning Doves are ground feeders , so if they have to go in or on something to feed, they won't do it. Other than that , a cat is about it. Or,... you could just learn to enjoy he great variety (color patterns) of the pigeons . * shrug*.
There are special feeders for this type problem. One made to keep squirrels out might work. Pigeons eat off the ground rather than at a bird feeder.
well, just move the feeders some where else!
