How do you keep snakes out of your yard and what gets rid of moles in your yard?
Question:i have heard that if you put mothballs around your yard it would keep snakes away. does this really work and if it does how? what is the best and cheapest way to get rid of snakes and moles in the yard?
Answers:
Use Snakeaway or sulfur to keep snakes out of your yard. Just sprinkle around perimeter. Moles are very hard to kill. The best way is to kill the japenese bettle grub that is in the ground (the food moles look for). You do this with a product called Milky Spore. You can buy it in a canister which you put out i believe in a checkerboard pattern. You can also buy it in a bag which you can put out in a spreader. It is a disease that spreads through the grub families and should have all of them killed in probably about two years.
About the only other way I have had success is grab a shovel, pitchfork etc and start stabbing when you see the ground move!
okay you can try the moth balls but if you have strays or other pets in your yard I would say no cause they are poisonous .Try a plastic garden owl and sprinkle cayenne pepper about. good luck.
I live in the country and have plenty of cats outside to keep the snakes away and have found the to get rid of the gophers and moles I use the kitty litter from my inside cat ,just sprinkle it on the yard, they have a very ken sense of smell and since a cat is their predator they leave.
A quick fix on the moles is to gas them out. Take a hose and connect it to your cars exhaust. Stick the other end down one of the mole holes. Don't try C-4 explosives like in Caddyshack! The exhaust is a quick fix and the moles will return.
The solution is to get rid of their food source. Try buying a grub killer from your hardware store and spreading that over your lawn.
Not sure about the snakes. The answer above might work buy getting cats or plastic owls.
