I want to plant mature trees in my yard. Any recommendations?

Question:I would also like to know about trees that grow very fast and are strong.

Answers:
Pin Oaks are wonderful.

It depends on where you live and the area you want to plant them. Different trees have different needs as far as sun, moisture, etc. Also consider their mature height in relation to their close proximity to your house--not too close or you'll undermind your foundation. Also, what kind of mess does the tree leave in falling flowers or leaves? I made the mistake of putting a birch tree too close to the deck because I wanted the shade. I'm constantly sweeping the deck of the refuse the tree leaves as it's natural style. What a pain. Mature trees cost more and must be watered faithfully for a long time to get established. You don't want to lose them w/what they initially cost.
Fast growing and strong are often contradictions when it comes to trees. Usually the fast growers are soft wood with poor wind resistance and they tend to fail under stress.

As a rule of thumb, the larger the tree, the harder it is to transplant. You might look toward larger container grown trees (up to 2" caliper) as a happy medium. You can get a decent sized tree that is fairly easy to transplant.

good luck.
