Pine Bark Mulch?

Question:Is large chips of pine bark mulch good for trees?

Answers:
I've never had a problem with pine bark mulch and have used it for years. I also use cedar in several flower beds, but like the look of the pine better. just remember that whatever mulch you use around a tree, place it in a saucer shape 2 to three feet around the trunk and about two to four inches thick. do not pile it up around the trunk of the tree. You want only about an inch or so around the base of the trunk. Any more and you can run the risk of the mulch rotting, harboring fungus or animals burrowing into it and eating your tree. good luck

Mulch is always a benefit, but as for pine bark around trees...that is questionable.

What if the bark harbors pests that attack your trees?

If you should decide to use it, be certain to leave a gap between the mulch and the tree trunk.
I would recommend ceder mulch.
Ceder is a natural insect repellent.
