Plant help?

Question:I have a section of my back yard that is a pain the butt to mow and when it rains this section will stand in water for days and it gets Sun in the morning and shade in the afternoon. Is there any type of plant (that don't look like weeds)that could live in that type of conditions? Also I live in Indiana if that matters.

Answers:
Irises and papyrus and would appreciate the wet conditions. There are several varieties of iris, just make sure you choose the type that like wet conditions.

Why not put in a pond? You have bad drainage and a pond would be the perfect solution.
plant a rain garden.. sounds like the perfect place!

here's a link to Kansas City, MO's rain garden site..

www.rainkc.com

it should give you some information and maybe some links on where you can go to get materials, plants, etc.

good luck!
