Is using tap water with chlorine in it, (all tap water does) is it bad for my plants?

Question:And if so, what do I water my plants with? They are outside plants, but it hasn't been raining much..thanks.

Answers:
Most outdoor plants will not be affected by the chlorine. It's potted or houseplants that sometimes react to chlorine, like orchids. If you have a sensitive plant, fill up a few gallon jugs with water. Let them sit overnight and the chlorine will dissipate.

the problem with chlorine is that it kills microbiotics.. bacteria, etc.. which is great for your drinking water, but bad for the "bugs" that live in your soil. If you have issues with your water, just let it sit in a bucket a few hours before watering your plants.. the chlorine will evaporate out. Further, your plants will get water that is at their current (room or outside) temperature and not cold, like from the tap.

this is more an issue with container plants than earth-grown plants.
they wont be as productive. collect rain water in containers
Leave the water that you are going to use in an open pail or bucket, the chlorine is nothing more than a gas and it will dissipate over night.
I personally have never had a problem using tap water. My garden does just fine as well as my grass. For example, I have three tomato plants in my garden. I'll be giving away tomatoes all summer, and we eat a lot of tomatoes.
