Do I have to thin my carrots? When should it be done?

Question:They have been out of the ground for about 2 weeks.
Some of them are really, really close together!

Answers:
hi
yes you have to thin the carrots to give them room to grow and mature, if not they will stay small and die, they will smother each other out, I know I hate to throw good plants out also, if you are careful maybe you can transplant them to another area. I would do it when they are 2-4" tall . good luck, Pat

I don't thin anything! if they seed naturally they don't thin themselves, do they? No they don't. Some will mature before others pull them first and you will be thinning.
yes they need to be thin so they can grow in the ground
No you don't. they will bump each out of the way and you thin them when you choose to eat them. leave in the smaller ones they will have more room to get big. you will have carrots continue on and on through the season and then some.
