Can you start corn in the north west now?


Question:It has been a very cool spring. I wanted to seed on the new moon. Garden water system not in place yet. Ground moisture surfaces on the new moon. The last new moon was too early. We had a long dry spell last mo. I fear there wiil be anouther one soon.

Hi Barbara, it depends on where in the Northwest, but I am certain in most areas, it is definitely not too late. If you are in extreme north like Spokane, try a short season variety, it will produce for you.

In most areas. you will be fine. I planted corn on July 4th once in LaGrande, Oregon and got a great crop in October. Go for it!

Yes !! Just look for an early corn!! Different types of corn grow to maturity at different rates!! It will say on the package when to harvest!! LOL
