Accidently spilled fertilizer in my pool. What should I do?

Question:Its an inground with a filter. And I use chlorine.

Answers:
What kind of fertilizer was it and what was the concentrations of the compounds?

How much did you spill in there? How many gallons is your pool? What are your current pH, free chlorine, total chlorine, total alkalinity, and calcium hardness levels?

A lot of times you can just shock the pool to remove the fertilizer, but some fertilizers contain calcium and other carbonates that can affect your water chemistry. If this is the case then use caution when attempting a fix or you could precipitate the calcium out of the water creating a pool of milky water.

My email is robandliz1992@yahoo.com if you want to drop me a line with the information I outlined above and I can help make sure your pool isn't harmed by the addition of fertilizer.

Depends on how much you spilled in it. The whole bag?
Cup full? Just sprayed from the spreader?? If a small amount. ,,,run the filter for 24 hours and then have the water checked at your pool store. If you spilled allot,,,,it should dissolve slowly,,,,scoop it out with your hand or whatever is available. Then run the filter for 24 hrs,,check water. If you spilled allot, you may have to change the water.
