Leyland cypress-Twigs breaking -tree dying?

Question:I have one Mature and 4 or 5 younger Leylands!
It starts with small twigs breaking, (hanging down, purpendicular to the ground), then turning brown. More and more twigs do this till a whole branch is dead! It has spread both on the mature tree and to my other trees. One of my trees was taken out and my largest is getting close.
What to do? What is it?
Thanks,
Frank

Answers:
From what you've described, there could be one of 3 strong possibilities;

1) Seiridium canker (my guess what's attacking your tree)
2) Botryosphaeria canker
3) Juniper scale

Here's a website that explains in better detail what you should look for and how to treat your Leyland Cypress; http://hgic.clemson.edu/factsheets/hgic2...

I hope you're able to identify and treat as soon as possible to avoid further loss of your trees. GOOD LUCK!
