Stevia... This is the first year I've had one. It's known as the "sugar" plant. I tasted one of the leaves at the nursery - very sweet. Greek oregano smells wonderful. Garlic chives are fun, and they taste wonderful on anything you would use a green onion on-love them on baked potatoes with sour cream.

Well, basic herbs add lots of flavors to ordinary cooking. I have rosemary(good for porkchops), lavender(make cookies with it), chives(baked potatoes), mint(make tea), lemon thymes, etc. I want to have basil and shiso(perilla) this summer. Dill is nice, too, if you have a space for it. I had nastatium last summer, but it was attacked by aphids so bad that I quit growing it anymore.
How about par-cel? Looks like flat leaf parsley, but has the flavor of celery. I purchased a plant at a small nursery. It is also available as seeds.
mint, peppermint or spearmint... they keep pests and rodents away. and you can crush the leaves to make into a tea. but when you plant them around your house, make sure they are still in a container otherwise they will spread like crazy
I just got a basil plant and last year I had a chive plant. They come handy in the kitchen.
Parsley Sage Rosemary and Thyme
Some herbs that we use in the kitchen are Thyme, Basil, Sage, Chives, Parsley, Mint and Marjoram. They are all easy to grow (at least where we live).
