How often should you bathe your dog??
Question:Well I have Three outside dogs. And we have a lot of mud. And I am just wondering if I should bathe my dogs a little bit more???

Dont bathe them more than once a week, or every two weeks. If they are shedders, once a week is ok. If they do not shed, make it every two weeks.
Dogs have oils in their coats and on their skin that will be washed off if you bathe them too often, which can cause them to scratch constantly. It dries out their skin and makes them really itchy and irritable... some digs develop "hot spots" where they scratch so much the hair falls out because their owners wash them too often. Brush them every day, that will help.. and dont let your dogs run around in Mud! It can be damaging for their paws if they are always wet and muddy... give them a dry area to be in
Too much bathing really dries out their skin and coat. With mud, let it dry and brush it out. You may have to break apart the mud clods first, but usually they turn to dust and are easily removed. Since they are outside dogs, there's less need to bathe. I have had outside dogs I bathed once a year after they blew their undercoat for the summer.
Frequent brushing also allows you to check over your dogs for wounds, ticks and other skin problems.
The number really depends on the dog and it's health. Some have oily coats either naturally or by illness and get stinky quickly. Maybe an oily dog would hold mud more easily, I have no experience.
Then again I know people who bathe their dogs once a week, but they are inside dogs and they use a special shampoo and conditioner for the coat.
