Every used Tru Green?
Question:If so, how is/ was your experience with them?
I'm debating on whether or not I want to continue with them. The 1st time they came out was to spray for weeds and fertilize. They did it 3 hours before it rained and left a note for us, telling us not to water for at least 24 hours for best results (HELLO, rain is water and was in the forecast). The results were no better, if not worse, than when I've done it myself in the past using products I purchased at the nursery.
They came to treat for grubs and were there a whole 4 minutes while my husband walked next door. Can a small-average size yard really be done in 4 minutes? $100+ for 4 minutes?
Just curious how your experience with them was and if it's worth having them come back. Also, should I pay them for the 1st treatment or ask them to come back (since it rained and they said not to water)?
Answers:
Did they spray or spread grainules? Yes I highly recommend the service! I have never had any problems in the 5 years I've been using them. They are supposto walk at a certain speed when spreading, as to why they do it so fast. ( I asked my TG person how they can do it so fast)
Sounds more like you are using this forum to host a smear campaign against trugreen for some unknown reason.
I have never had any problem with their service.
They have sprayed my lawn before and after a rain and my lawn looks great! No weeds, green lush lawn. I pay extra for the grub grainules to be put down, and the tree and bug spray.
My front and back yard is huge, and just for the lawn - the cost is only 45 bux. Not bad when a couple bags of scotts is about the same.
I highly doubt you are being charged 100+ dollars for your small yard. They always go by the size yard. Call the sales rep to have them re-measure your lawn.
If you are unhappy with any service - cancel it! Simple as that.
We use to use Tru Green at our first house because the yard was small it wasn't so expensive; however everytime I turned around they were coming and spraying for this and spraying for that. It seemed like I was paying them everyother week. I did have to put a stop to that and when we moved we did not use them again. We had Saint Augustine grass and it looked great! They did a good job and we always go compliments on our yard but they are over priced! If they said not to water and it rained I called them on this once and they came back to spray with no extra cost.
It is ironic that you asked this question. I had these people doing my lawn and I have noticed that their chemicals look different colors when they spray them on. I have a friend that does lawn maintenance at a resort. The grass always looks perfect. I ask him if they had ever used this type service. Of course he hadn't, but he had an employee that had worked for this company before. He claims that they basically spray the lawn with chemicals only when the green starts to fade a little. In short you are paying someone most of the time to spray clear water on your yard. This friend of mine gave me a recipe of stuff that made my yard look like a million bucks. Liquid Iron FE, trimec(herbicide), liquid fertilizer, and blue dye(this makes it easier to see where you have sprayed but will wash off when you water). The trimec kills most lawn weeds but not the grass. The liquid iron makes the grass turn bright green for 2 or 3 weeks. (Don't spill on your garage floor. It will leave a rusty spot that will never come out. ) If you live where there is a real bad drought like here in Alabama, be careful with the fertilizer. Make sure you water your lawn for a pretty good time. Watering for short periods will make the roots grow too close to the surface. You will come back from vacation and your lawn will be dead. But to answer your initial question, no I will not use them. If you have time you can do better on your own. Otherwise I would find a local company. My friend's employee claims that these big companies spray about 30 yards a day during the dry yellow months. They are under a lot of pressure, plus those chemicals are expensive to the the people that own the franchises. The want to use as little as possible.
I used them two years ago for about 6 months. The guy would come and spray, yet my yard still had weeds and looked horrible. Then I had some big areas start dying. I said I had bugs, they said it was a water issue. When it spread to my neighbors yard he called them and they said he had bugs! After arguing with the manager on the phone I fired them!
I tried another company the following year but had similar results. Needless to say I have went back to doing it myself and the yard now looks the best it ever has!
Do Not use Tru Green. I repeat Do Not use Tru Green. They caused so many problems for us and they did not even do a good job. They are horrible. Do Not use Tru Green. My lawn got worse. Do Not use it!
i think i would explain the situation and ask them to come back...at least to get my money's worth for previous visit...i would go over the worker's heads to a supervisor or higher authority...also i would be sure to let them know that there is a complaint being filed on them...
