What are attractive flowering shrubs to grow in a shady front yard in zone 5 growing area with morning sun?

Question:

Answers:
Azaleas do very well with just a few hours of sun - as long as your soil is not heavy clay.

With morning sun Lilac bushes should be fine(I like the pink reblooming lilac bushes) as well as butterfly bushes. As long as they get close to 6 hours of sun they are considered full sun areas. Many shrubs & bushes are good in full sun or partial shade anyway. For more info see:

rhododendron are maybe a bit old fashioned, but easy to grow with beautiful large flower heads. white or any shade of pink/purple exist. broad, large, glossy dark green leaves make a nice contrast. fairly quick growers.
Bleeding hearts are normally a good flowering shrub for shady areas. A butterfly bush would look very pretty, but they normally take a bit more sun than bleeding hearts do.
