When do you plant wheat for your Cattle?

Question:I have a small farm in west Texas

Answers:
Isnt hay good enough?

Plant wheat in the fall, that will give it time to grow a good root system.
Wheat is planted either in the ealry spring or fall. If you haven't planted it already, I'd say wait till fall.

By the way, I've never heard of people planting wheat for cattle other than to use as bedding. Normally alfalfa or clover is used for cattle hay. And corn is normally used for grain feed, although I grew up in the midwest so the grain that is used in the south might be a little different.
