How do I get rid of bull ants in my hanging orchids?
Question:Ok, I thought hanging them out on my fence was better than having them inside where my cats were eating them. To no surprise they recovered nicely. Till one day I went out to water them and swarms of huge ants came crawling out. Help!! Does anyone know how I can get rid of them without hurting my orchids?
Answers:
Water them deeply or soak in a bucket every day for a week. Ants will consider this a "hostile" environment and move on!!
Good Luck!!
Use Ant baits! Raid makes some and I'm sure Home Depot or Lowe's will have some good products and advice for your problem. Ask them. Good luck and may God bless you and your cats!
Also ask them if your orchids are in a good place for them.
I sprinkle granular ant killer in the orchid bark when ants get in them. You can also take them down and soak them in a bucket with insecticide.
Take equal parts of baking soda and confectioners sugar and mix together.
Put in a small jar cover and place in your orchid pots.
The ants will be attracted to the mixture, eat some and will die.
It works everytime--trust me !!
