What is this slime and bigs on tomatoes?

Question:And how can I get rid of it? I still have this ugly fuchsia plant in my garden that I am not allowed to get rid of and it has lots of spit-like stuff on it. Now my neighbour came over and also showed me that she has this stuff on her young tomato plants and light green bugs are coming out of it.
What is this and how can I get rid of it? I also noticed it on plants in the fields.

Answers:
The slime is cuckoo spit and is completely harmless as are the little green insects that cause it.Just get a water spray and wash it off.No harm will come to your fuchsia or your neighbours tomato plants.

Sounds like The Day of the Triffids coming to life. You'll be needing a flame thrower
i dont know were you live but they sound like aphids. you need to buy lady bugs or run to home depot or lowes.
Dont know but in addition to garden gloves I would wear
a suit of armour if I were to do your gardening.
Fuschias seem to one of the favourites for this "spit". Check this link:

http://www.ivyhall.district96.k12.il.us/... ..... this out.
Dont worry its only cuckoo spit. It is harmless. It is produced by little bugs.
