What is the best way to plant grass?
Question:
Answers:
Seeding a new lawn is by far the best long term approach.
The benefits of seeding are:
1) The best & biggest selection of disease resistant grasses for your area is almost always seed.
2) You can select grass seeds that fit your environmental conditions (sun, shade, high traffic areas, etc.)
3) Grass grown from seed adapts better to your specific growing conditions and soils.
4) You are not bringing in a 1" layer of radically different soil and creating a soil interface.
Disadvantages of seeding a new lawn:
1) Limited optimal time frame for seeding.
2) More frequent watering needed to germinate/establish.
3) No instant lawn.
4) Difficult to establish on slopes.
Sodding creates the instant lawn.
The advantages to sodding are:
1) Instant lawn.
2) Can be installed whenever sod is available.
3) Takes less frequent watering to establish than seed initailly does.
4) Less errosion and easier to establish on slopes.
The disadvantages to sodding are:
1) Limited selection. Shade sods may be available in your area.
2) Seeds selected for best perfomance in producing sod, not best performance in your lawn.
3) Sodded lawns can be more suceptible to certain diseases.
sod if you want to cover a large areas instantly but seed for large bare spots or the seed patch is great for little patches like 2ft by 2ft squares or somewhere around that size
lots of seeds and water. That's alll I can tell you.
the best way to gro a plant is to have a lot of son llite and water and sugar(helps)!!
Well it depends. If you want to plant sod I would just dampen your area lay it down and DO NOT walk on it for a few days to let the roots grow. If you want to plant seed grass do the same but make sure to fertilze it and water it.
