Answers:
If you don't have much good grass that is salvageable, you can rent a tiller and till your whole yard and level it, then lay sod over top. Be sure to water regularly.

If it's just a few holes, you can fill those with topsoil to level them with the grass and then seed them. Cover the seed with hay to prevent the birds from eating it all. Water thoroughly.

buy a truck load of top soil and level your yard then plant grass seed
i had the same problem, my dad had to buy like 10 square yards of soil to level everything out and then bought the sod to put over it. the sod needs lots of water or else it will turn yellow and possibly die real soon
I had to have two dumptrucks of top soil dumped on the driveway and hump them in with a wheelbarrow, tamp it down till everything was flat, then hire someone to hydroseed it or just buy grasseed for your area and after applying it rake it in and water.

Before you do anything call at least two local landscapers and ask opinions on type of grass. Some do really well in some areas and some won't grow at all! Better to know ahead of time after all that work you'd like to see some grass actually growing!
You need topsoil and grass seed delivered. Call 1-800-TOPSOIL to speak to a local pro. They're national, so they may just have someone servicing your area. Good luck!
