Why are the leaves on my tomato plants turning yellow?

Question:Planted tomato plants a week ago. Looked nice to start but now getting yellow leaves and wondering why?

Answers:
you're doing one of two things wrong giving to much water, but more then likely you're not watering them enough and tomatoes like to be in direct sun that could be aproblem if they are not getting enough sun

Pull them off and give the plants a good drink of water.Tomato plants need a consistant amount of water.Once fruit forms they can split if not given consistant amount of water.
check if they have sufficient water, sunlight and fertilizer, also remember if you were smoking when you planted them because the tobacco in your cigarrette is a carrier of the tomato mosaic virus which turns the tomato plant leaves "mottled" yellow
usually a plant turns yellow due to a lack of nitrogen in the soil. next question, did you plant them in the ground or in a pot? I have had really good luck with Jobes Tomato Spikes for fertilizer on maters. It will feed them all season and the plants will produce some really fine fruits.
overwatering
Could be bugs. The BEST concoction for keeping bugs off tomato plants are to spray them down with a mixture of dish soap and water. Really works and so safe! :)
it is not uncommon for tomato plants to drop their lower leaves. So if a whole stem has yellowed all at once it is usually because the plant has stopped feeding that stem, it will drop off and die naturally. This is especially true when they set fruit as they are putting their energy into ripening the fruit. I grow tomato plants for that fruit not to look at the pretty foiliage. Tomatoes like CONSISTENT even watering especially as fruit is ripening. Too much water then is what causes splitting as the fruit sucks up more liquid than it''s skin can hold. It also can be a cause if you too many yellow leaves - see below
