A Tree that can grow very fast?
Question:i have a weird neighbor that likes to bother me in my backyard. So i have decided to plant trees in between us so he does not see me. I know it sounds mean but this guy is so weird and will not leave me alone
Answers:
Maples, Poplars and some Oaks grow extremely fast, but all drop their leaves over the winter. The Leyland Cypress is an evergreen tree that has the ablility to grow up to 3 feet per year once established. They make excellent screens for privacy. Good Luck!
I have the same problem. Planted a bunch of 6' white pines in a line and that solved it. Other than large spruces and pines think about columnar arbor vitaes. They grow really fast.
Maple trees grow fairly fast.maybe you should think about a privacy fence...
Poplar grows insanely fast, like as in 10 feet per year fast, and grows everywhere in the continental U.S.
I can attest to this, as the ones at my house tower over every other tree in the area after just 10 years. They're bred to be harvested for firewood and to grow quickly.
In case you don't want to take my word for it, I put a link in sources.
Trees are way better than fences: they are attractive, don't require painting, staining, or carpentry (although pruning occasionally is good), provide shade (thereby saving on cooling) as well as privacy, block wind (thereby saving on heating), add value to your property, suck carbon dioxide out of the air, and return oxygen to it. Fences, on the other hand, are just dead trees that rot, attract wasps and hornets, and tend to be ugly.
The problem with maples and poplars, though, is they won't really block your neighbor, since they're narrow at the bottom and only big on top. If you really want to block your neighbor, use pine or cedar, or some other type of needly evergreen that is wider at the bottom than the top (but they grow slowly).
Depending how serious you are, you could also consider doing two rows: one of fast growing, tall trees, and another of short, squat pine-like trees. Granted, I don't know if that's feasible for you, because I don't know the size of your property.
Probably your neighbor is lonely. He tries to be a good neighbor. But if he is that offensive, plant a row of Albervida's (Possibly spelled wrong) They grow fast and tall. They are beautiful. Your neighbor will be hurt and take the hint. Instead of trees, why don't you put up a privacy fence ????
it truth it depends on where you live as to which tree would be the best choice.
go to a local nursery and ask. they like ppl to ask questions - so they can show off their knowledge ;)
some trees may grow fast, but are weak-wooded and that might be a bigger headache in the future than the neighbor is now. some trees may not be suited for your climate.
just visit nurseries, ask, and you might be surprised at what you learn.
hope this helps.
photonia, couse depends on where ya live
