What can i do to fix my lawn?
Question:My lawn has missing spots of grass and i don't know how i could fix it. Is there anyway i could fix it without starting a new lawn?

sod is always a fast solution but do some research and make sure you buy the same type of grass. I cut a piece of grass out of my lawn and took it to a sod farm. They sold me the same kind and I had grass in my back yard the next day. Instant lawn. Make sure to prepare the soil underneath the lawn to promote a thick healthy growth.

First determine why those spots are missing grass. Too shady? too wet? too dry? poor soil? Fix the problem if possible.
You can spot seed or lay sod. Seeding should be done in the fall or early spring, not now. Sod can be laid anytime but will need intensive watering if laid now.

I concur with Judy B, but first pull up a plug of grass to see if there are any grubs- little white worm-like bugs underneath when you left up the plug. If there are, contact your local garden center for an insectide or some non-chemical solution.
Take a soil sample to your local garden sample or extension service- it seems like a lot to do, but regardless of if you have grubs or not, that sample can help them diagnose if you need to add a soil additive (lime, calcium, or even fertilizer-including organic types), as well as any insectide, fungicide, etc. They can then help you figure out what is happening and how to fix it (you don't want to put down sod if there are grubs- that would be a bigger salad bar to eat from and more spots). When they help you with the spots, then you can seed or sod where the spots are (and the right kind of grass for your area and that particular lawn).
Check local landscape company sites and/or your state's extension center website- they provide links on lawncare and turf grasses that are specially chosen for your community based on testing.

You may want to add some good topsoil &/or peat 1st.
If there are alot of spots & money is a concern, you can just throw some seed & starter fertilizer on them.
No matter how you plant the grass you'll have to make a commitment to watering.
