Question:my yard is 15 m long and 15m wide. The whole yard is paved except for a garden that is 2.25m wide and 10m long. What percentage of my whole yard is paved? i need help how to work it out

Answers:
Ratio of areas. 15x15 is 225 square meters. 10x2.25 is 22.5 square meters that is UNPAVED. Therefore 10% is UNPAVED and 90% (your original question) is PAVED.

Your yard area is 225 m

Your Garden area is 22.5 M

Divide your garden area by the total area will give you the the percentage of garden.

Subtract that result from 100 to equal your paved area percentage

90% Paved 10% Garden
Multiply the length time the width of both areas. Divide the larger number into the smaller number. This gives you the percentage of area that the smaller area covers. Subtract the number from 100 and that is the area that the paving covers in percent.
15 m X 15 m = 225 sq. m
2.25 m X 10 m =22.5 sq. m
22.5 is 1/10th of 225 so garden area is 10% of total area. Paved area would be 90%.
