Uaually the second year. We have 10 apple trees and this is what I have found.
depends if it gets a lot of sunshine ,how well you look after it with watering, fertiliser, mulch and weeding but you may have a taste in a couple of years and then as with most fruit trees they have alternatively a year of excessive cropping and a year of a lot less. You may need to spray for coddling moth when the time comes although sometimes you can just share if the problem is not too bad. What type of apple is it ? You can graft a number of different types on the one tree. Variety is a good thing when it starts producing fruit!
