I've heard that it can, but just recently noticed that Wal-Mart now carries a termite guard landscape fabric that would protect against termites. (I am assuming that you use landscape fabric under your mulch.) Anyway...hope this helps. FYI: The brand is WeedX..it's all my husband uses..the fabric is porous and lightweight and is the only brand that has ever worked for him for weed control..and he has used commercial grade expensive ones too. The termite guard I assume would be an awesome bonus!

Termites don't like cedar mulch. Also, using beneficial nemotodes will control most insect infestation, the natural way!
