How long does it take pumpkins plants to begin to produce pumpkins?

Question:The plant is growing at an astonishing rate, when will i see some pumpkins..HELP!

Answers:
You should see them soon. Pumpkins show up right after the flower dies. Do you have flowers yet? I already have little pumpkin buds.

After the flower has bloomed and been pollinated, you should see a pumpkin squash. If you wish to grow the biggest one the plant can produce, wait until each is about the size of a golf ball. then remove all but one. Heavily fertilize and in the fall, you can have one big one rather than several tiny guys. You might even be able to Google a site to tell you the correct fertilizer to use, and how often. there is always some champ out there hoping to tell you his secrets... good luck
As soon as the plant begins to produce the yellow flowers, you may begin to see fruits, as the flowers drop. The thing about pumpkins is that they often produce little fruits to begin with, then the fruits drop off and finally some will take hold and continue to grow into full-sized fruits. Pumpkins are so much fun to watch grow. Watch for slugs which can cause damage. Make sure the plants have enough water and help the vines trail to the places you want them to go. They will even trail up fences and things, so you need to watch the quick growth. If you are getting a lot of vine growth and no flowers (depending upon where you live, and climate), you may check with your local nurseryman to see if you need a different type of fertilizer. My pumpkin plants are not large yet at all, but I live in Michigan. Good luck and have fun!
Pumpkins & similar vines do not take very long to fruit,if the vine is growing rapidly then you should soon see flowers ,no pumpkins before these show up ! The vine will produce both male & female flowers, the female can be identigied by the small rudimentary pumpkin shaped growth just behind the flower,If pollination has taken place the flower will wither & the pumpkin starts to grow rapidly. Good luck .
