How can I get rid of snakes in my yard?
Question:I noticed there are holes in our building on the outside of our complex and they go in there. I had my neighbor cut down all the bushes and now they are in our yard! I am scared to death to go outside now. what can I do about this? can they go in our attic? so far I have seen baby snakes and they have diamond shapes on them. please help someone.
Answers:
It is the diamond shaped head that you need to worry about. A poisonous snake has a diamond shaped head. Spring is breeding time for them so that is why you are seeing them. As long as you keep the grass short and no piles of wood or junk or rocks laying around your yard for them to hide under, they should move on to somewhere for more secluded hiding spots. Unless you have alot of rodents for them to feed on around there.
If you are in an apt complex speak to the manager about it & have them handle it professionally.
Be brave they are just as afraid of you as you are of them.
pour oil into the hole ......drop a match and .........
Get a couple of outside cats, if you are allowed. I live where there are snakes, also, and since I've kept these cats, I haven't seen any.
Call a critter removal service. Most state animal control agencies will not help with environmental habitants.
I had a racoon in my attic and animal control would not help, however if it were a cat ... they would've removed it.
get a mongoose!
LOL!
Snakes are beneficial animals. What you saw were probably fully grown adult garter snakes.
Even poisonous snakes prefer to hide from you over biting you. They don't like to waste venom by biting something that they can't swallow whole.
