Why is Scotts the best brand for fertilizer?
Question:Did you know Ortho, Miracle Gro, Osmocote, and Round Up(marketing/distribution rights) are all Scotts brands. Is it fair to have the best product in every lawn and garden category?
Answers:
A quick check of your bathroom cabinet might reveal that allot of those products are owned, manufactured and sold under Proctor and Gamble.
Scott products work, period. I have tried the cheaper weed and feed, or the store brand. Didn't work like Scotts.
Fertilizers are drugs for plants and I don't use them.
I'm a horticulturalist. Compost, which is free, thanks to good old mother nature, is all my lawn and garden needs.
Are you a sales rep for this company who is looking for a promotion or something? LOL!
welcome to the world! it's everywhere u look! aaaahhhh the sweet smell of money... i mean freedom! "scotts is pretty good stuff though!"
the best and the most popular are two very different things... usually the most popular seem like the best because they are the best at advertising... but not necessarily the best chemicals...
marketing has made you look for these names... but if you look at the active ingredients...there are more than a few of the exact same names ... (many are also cheaper)
Scott's is a recognized leader in the marketing of lawn and garden products. Whether or not their products are the best is entirely a different matter.
Scott's is just VERY good at marketing. there are comparable chemicals available from other sources. If it's the same chemical at the same strength, I'll often buy the off brand, because I know that it will do the same thing.
as far as fertilizer goes, nitrogen, potassium and phosphorus are all the same elements. Delivery system notwithstanding, plants can't tell the difference... only the buyer of the product can.
