Can you cut runner from saint augstine grass to replant? Will it grow?
Question:
Answers:
Yes. I've had much success with this. For each runner make a long, shallow trench in the soil, about 1/2" deep. Lay the runner in it, pack some loose soil on top. Allow some of the green blades to show through. Make sure several "joints" of the runner are covered with packed soil. Do not allow to dry out. Keep well watered until it "takes" (1-2 weeks), at which time it will start sending out new blades. The runners should be planted as soon as possible after cutting from the mother plant. If necessary to delay planting, you can keep the cuttings in a bucket of water for a few hours until they can be planted.
