Planting vegtables?
Question:Is it too late in the year to plant veg. like carrots, cucumber, green onions and herbs chamomile and peppermint? I live in Northern AZ and the high here so far has been in the upper 80's. Any help please.
Answers:
No- it's not too late. Carrots get sweeter the longer they are in the ground and the herbs will do okay in the cooler weather. Find out when your first frost date is and count backwards to your planting date. That will tell you how many days you have until first frost, and if what you are planting will be done in time.
You can always protect plants from early frosts and keep them going until a harder one hits.
go to www.about landscaping.com the have a lot of tips for you.
Lots of people plant two gardens each year. It's not too late, at least I don't see how it would be. There are winter onions, etc. Your crops should come in before frost with no trouble.
Well it was up in the high 90's last July here in NY, and I planted many of those things and then some! And they STILL all came up!!
Cheers! go for it!!
plant your crops. i would say use the farmers almanac to see when it is a good day to plant your various crops.
