How do I get rid of clovers without killing the grass?
Question:Last year I only had a little patch of them, this year they are all over the place!! I want to get rid of them, but I don't want to harm the grass, we just replanted last year.
Answers:
Use any good combination fertilizer/weed killer combination in granular form (Scotts makes a good one). Apply it with either a drop or rotary spreader set per the manufacturer recommended rate. Be sure that you know what type of grass you have, there are different fetilizer/weed killer mixes for different types of grass. Here in Florida, for St. Augustine grass, I use Scott's "Bonus" which fertilizes and kills nuisance weeds like dollar weed etc. Talk with any of the pros at the local Home Improvement store - they'll know what works best in your area, and probably what type of grass you have as well. I use a Scotts "Speedy Green" rotary spreader, it's fairly inexpensive and does the job.
Broadleaf killer for lawns or weed killer for lawns
Use a "selective" herbicide. Talk to a lawn professional.
I apologize for not being able to provide you with the product name, but I know there is a product you can buy that fertilizes the grass while killing the clover.I THINK the maker is Lily Miller. It can but purchased at any store or nursery that carries Lily Miller products...
If I'm NOT totally mistaken, Scott's may also have a product that does this...
Good Luck with this...Clover is VERY invasive.
Add some lime for the next 2 to 3 years
