Whats the best fruits and veggies to grow in Phoenix, Arizona?

I live in Phoenix and I had a garden about a year back with mixed result. I had alot of luck with bell peppers and tomatoes. My cantelope vine grew and grew but never produced any fruit. My strawberries and jalepenos struggled but I have had success with strawberries in the past. Alot of things grow good here but now is a tough time of year to start.
