Number of Bricks?

Question:The bricks are 4x8 inches and the area we want to cover is 10ft 6in wide and 5ft 8in deep. Spot under gate where I can't get grass to grow, So I'm bricking it!!

Answers:
For a simple running bond pattern, about 268. Do the math-

126"x68"/32=267.75

Add some for breakage. If you want to do a more complicated pattern like a herringbone, you might need a few more.

Depending on your climate, you will want to dig down 4-6 inches plus the thickness of the bricks and place some base material. Level this off and compact it, a hand compactor will probably be sufficient for this size area. Put an inch or so of sand on top of the base for the pavers to sit on. When you've placed all of the pavers, sweep some sand into the crack and tamp them down and you'll have a path that will hold up for quite a while.
