What is best to start off a new lawn, seeds or turf?
Question:
Answers:
without a doubt "turf" you have a lawn instantly...just one suggestion though,if you do decide to turf you have to make sure that the turf once down does not dry at all...this is most important as the turf if not watered will shrink and leave gaps between the turfs laid...so water water water untill the grass is actively growing.
turf all the way the seeds are crap.and turf looks nicer and neat.
for me trurf .
depending on what are deciding factors in your choice, if money is an issue then seeds will be cheaper, but take longer to get established, Turf is more expensive, but will look good quicker.
depends on the soil. if you have good soil seeds will be fine. ask an elderly nieghbour with a good looking lawn.
Both.
Turf if you're impatient.
Oh, and depending where you live, as weather can affect seed growth.
I am trying to figure out the same question. We are going to try seeds first because it is the least expensive and that's one of our concerns. If money is sort of an issue try hydro seed. If money is no issue, they I would go with turf.
Your own bit of real estate.
turf! i'd rather not be able to walk on it for 4-6 weeks then wait weeks for the grass to actually grow. At least it will look neat and tidy and give it plenty of water.
Turf, so much easier to do and establishes quicker.
Its all to do with Cost and Patience, if you can afford it Turf otherwise seed and patience. The end result will depend on how you look after it.
It has to be Turfs. More expensive yes but instant lovely green grass beats months of waiting to see if the grass will grow at all. And bear in mind the expense stops with the turf, no protectors, anti bird nets, sleepless nights standing guard against the neighbour's stinking cat etc.

Turf, without a question of doubt. The advantages are that you will have a lawn straightaway, although it may look a bit patchy and yellow. Feed it and water it and within 3 weeks it will become green and lush.
If you use seeds, you will have every bird in the area scratching like hooligans scoffing all your grass seeds. They love it. Even if you put up bird scarers they will still be there stuffing their faces.
Depending on your financial situation. If you put seeds down..you will have toput a net over the top to stop birds eating them. The alternative is to turf it..but you will have to roll the earth first then put a layer of sharp sand and then put the turf down and get them level.
