Gravel garden dilema?

Question:Would it look ok to have gravel mulching over the borders in my back garden but to leave the slopes gravel free?

Answers:
It would look fine. Just remember to put down sheeting before you put down the gravel. This stops the gravel mixing in with the soil.

You should have no problems using gravel on a sloped area.

Here are a couple of photos of our many rock gardens that my husband and I have done, and even made one sloped and have no problems with the rocks.
Its a good idea to mulch with anything you can, use a weed suppressing membrane first before u apply anything, must be porous to allow the water through though.if you use chipped bark it may look more natural and with a thick enough layer 75mm or so you may remove the need to cover first, weeds need light, you may get one or two but against the dark background they are easy to find and remove.
