Creative ideas for unique "COTTAGE-STYLE" garden ?

Question:statues? waterfalls? path? fence parts? wagon wheel? You suggest some ideas!

Answers:
You would definitely want white picket fencing and/or trellis. Plants with large blooms or tall plants...examples...peonies, hollyhock (almost impossible to call it a cottage garden without them), delphinium, morning glories. I would leave out more aristocratic elements like statues, waterfalls. A cobblestone path would be good; wooden birdhouses and a birdbath. No wagon wheel (sorry).

Roses are good. You would want the old English varieties and climbers...especially the very fragrant ones.

my cottage garden i just use found pieces of art. i have old pieces of picket fencing that i have honeysuckle growing up, and lots of birdfeeders/birdbaths. old iron fences work well too. i also have a few saint statues tucked into my garden, under trees, etc. you can use pea gravel to form pathways with boxwoods edging along the paths, that is very "english cottage garden". also lots of roses, lavender, hydrageas, sweet peas, camillas, vines (honeysuckle, jasmine). hope that helps!!
these suggestions are so good, i'll just add one thing: cottage gardens are, by design, not too "constructed" looking. the plants look as though they were stuck in any ole' place with no real organization. that's the big difference between cottage and formal. have fun, and put the shorter stuff in front and you'll be fine.
