Why does my grass grow twice as fast as my neighbours?

Question:

Answers:
cuz ur lawn is more sexy, and ur neighbor knows it

do u water more often? or fertilize?
differant type of grass, its not all the same
Because it is better quality.
Depends on the kind of grass you have and the quantity of light & water it gets.
yeah, mine does that too. why have they not developed bonsai grass that only needs trimmed once a year??
my guess would be that your grass gets twice as many hours of sunlight. Your neighbour could have fences, trees or buildings which block the sunlight for certain times in the day.
Mine is the same but i think its because theres some field grass mixed in mine, whereas my neighbours is turfed.Ive put alot of different types of grass seed down too over the past couple of years and i think that makes it like a heinz variety of grasses!!It can also depend on how short your mower may cut compared to your neighbours too.
mine does too ... in fact i think mine grows faster than everyones .. i always seem to be out there mowing the fecking thing ! Just done it again now!
It is jealous . you think your neighbor's grass is greener, and your grass is just trying to get your attention, which is only right, after all...
If you have a mulching blade, you may be fertilizing your lawn with the cuttings. and you may be watering and caring for your yard in a much better method than your neighbor. Also depends on the variety of grass that you and they may have.
Different grass types do grow at differing rates, as well as the factors that others have mentioned.

Do your lawns meet-up? If they do, how is the difference, if any, near to the join.

It may be that their soil hasn't got the same qualities that your has: perhaps yours has been improved in some ways, or even that you fertilise and they don't. Maybe they have more moss or weeds that are taking up some of the moisture and nutrients?

Overall, subject to similar light, water and nutrient availability, it sounds like your grass mixture may just be a faster growing variety. Perhaps they'd let you have a piece of it, and transplant it to within your own lawn, and notice the result?

Good luck! Rob
could be in the shade, do you water it more? fertilizer? Many reasons.
depends on what you or the previous owners put down on the grass like fertilizer, sand, miracle grow, top soil etc.

your neighbor obviously didnt do something you did!
Could be many factors.

You Could have better Soil or you Fertlize more.

You might water more.

Your grass may get more sunlight in the morning and shady during the Heat of the day.

Possibly you talk to your yard more than your neighbor. Well it could happen...
Well, as they say, the grass is always greener on the other side, and that's just because there's more **** there :-)
Several factors can produce lush grass growth. Perhaps your soil is richer in nitrates, which were laid down by a previous owner, who could have replaced the local soil with better top soil.
Perhaps your plot is in the path of an underground stream, which keeps up the level of moisture in the soil.
Maybe the species of grass sown was the best for your soil. Additionally, there may be fewer trees around to drain the water in the soil.
More than likely the reason is that you take better care of the plot by regular mowing, watering and feeding!
PERHAPS YOU ARE NOT CUTTING THE GRASS AS LOW AS YOUR NEIGHBOURS. ALLOW 1/2 ON THE MOWER. HAL
