What is the best way to keep flies away from the patio door?

WOW! Those were some disgusting answers. Amazing how uncivil some people can be. Really though, I don't know if there is a way to solve the problem. One suggestion that might work, spray the screen with a fly repellent, it should hold up for a while but need to be reapplied after a rain.
Hide the door in the shed. They'll never find it in there!
dig up the bodies and
bury `em somewhere else
Have a wash you smelly git. !
fly strips that you can get at any store they are cheap...
this sounds bizarre but it does work. crumple up & uncrumple a paper lunch bag several times. blow it up into a round shape & tie it shut. hang it above the door. to the flies, it looks like a wasp nest & they will avoid the area--of course there will be a few that will venture through the door but the fly population will dramatically drop in the house. I used this method when I lived in a house that didn't have a screen door & it worked pretty darn good
if your worried about them coming into your house then you can get a netting that goes around the door which will let the fresh air in but keep the flies out
if you just want to keep them from flying around the garden then you can get a thing that hangs up and kills all the flies, you always see them in restaurants in the kitchen, yo can probably pick one up in walmart or somewhere like that or you can get a thing that looks like a tennis racket with electrical wiring in the middle, you wave it around to kill the flies!
good luck!
get a plastic big ziploc type bag and fill it with water. then hang it up around the patio door. i have no idea why this keeps the flies away, but it works really well!
maybe it scares them when they lookinto it?
built a window screened porch around it or use a fly off thingy that you hang up by the door
we used to leave a bowl of tuna in the microwave with the door open.
when enough flies have collected, slam the door and zap at full power for about 30 seconds.
Re-open the door and start again.
You can get these tube things with a Sticky Orange tape in them which attracts flies and they stick to it.
Appart from that, there are also those Doorframe colour stream things, you hang at the top of the door, and they deter flies away.
Sorry I cant remember the name of either.
Keep em zipped up.
This maybe an old wives tell, but I have heard put a plastic bag (like a an Ice bag) filled with water at the entrance. I have seen several people do this. Now, if it really works, not sure. let me know if you try it and it works.
i burn a candle tea-light, add a few drops of any fruit essential oil lemon's best, they can't stand the smell & neither can wasps.
Screens can work well, but maybe use a combination of the suggestions (sensible ones that is) I use citronella candles/incense as this works very well keeping flying things away. As will mint too! Maybe one of those fly screens made out of multi-coloured plastic - my gran swore by hers - I believe that ones made of chain work well too
I live in Arkansas and all the restaurants and food places here hang a plastic bag of water, but they put a penny inside. Moving here from the North, I asked about this and everyone says it works! (No one knew why!) but I have to say there are no flies at the local restaurant we eat at- the kind where they pass the food thru the windows to you..
