What will grow if i plant bird seeds?

Question:my kids have planted some but they just look like grass, will it become a flower?

Answers:
Mostly weeds unfortunately! That is why I usually just buy the straight sunflower seeds for birdfeeders, so I can avoid the weed growth underneath the feeders from the other kinds. Might be a few sunflowers in your mix, but you can probably easily tell a sunflower seed if you saw one. Wow, am amazed at some of the snotty little answers to your simple question!

you'll will grow old waiting.
Most of the typical birdseed is alot of grass type seeds. Milo the round brown seeds make a grass that has a seed head in the fall. It is also a tough little grass not the kind you would want in your yard. The little white seeds are millet seeds again grasses. The sunflower seeds in the mixed birdseed are the only seed that would produce flowers and if you want you can replant them pretty easily. They would be the only plants that would have leaves and not the grass type leaves. Their leaves will look longish and oval to start then get rather big. You might need to stake the plant if you decide to let it grow and it will get tall and need alot of light. The birds will feast on the large seed heads in the fall and early winter and they will thank you for the effort. Goldfinches especially will like them.
Hope you get something magical, like a beanstalk or maybe a Nightingale that will tell exciting bedtime stories. If not, sunflowers and grass are special when grown from bird seeds.
The grass is most likely wheatgrass, from the wheat grains typically found in bird seed. Other things that may grow are sunflowers and millet.
You'll get milo and millet (grains) sunflowers and possibly a little field corn. Some blends include thistle..

You won't get any birds to grow from bird seed.. :-)
Annoying plants like sunflowers and thistles, depending on what's in the birdseed.
