Plants for my back yard (Shade and water)?
Question:My back yard has a lot of trees so it's real shady, also when it rains alot it ponds up in places. These places under the trees and in the ponding places have no grass or plants what so ever. Is there any type of plant who would really like this enviroment? I live in Oklahoma so we don't typically have a ton of rainfall, but if it does rain the plants in this area will have a lot of water.
Thanks!

I'm aware of a company in the KC area that specializes in native, prairie and wetland plants. It might be good to get in touch with them for recommendations.

Good luck!
You might consider Hostas. They do well in shade or filtered light and like it damp. I don't think they'd do well in standing water for long but occassionally would be OK. You might also consider Caladiums. They like shade also.
You could try hostas, sedges, Japanese barberry, cranesbill, Siberian iris, ostrich fern, all like moisture. Are your looking for flowers, or just something to soak up the moisture? What is the soil like in your yard? I'm guessing hard clay? And is your yard shaded all of the time, or does it get some sun during the day, and if so how much?
