Which chemical can l use to stop weed from growing in my yard permanently ?

Question:l want to stop any kind of weed from growing in my yard.l have tried Round up without success.

Answers:
Unfortunately, because there are weed seeds still in the ground, the weeds will eventually come back. The best thing that you can do is grow a dense healthy lawn by using proper mowing, watering and fertilizing techniques. Check with your local agricultural extension service to find out what techniques are best for your area.

Triox will kill anything and everything it touches.
"Soil sterilizers" are supposed to kill or prevent all plant growth, weeds or desireable plants. They persist in the soil over a long peiod of time, destroying its fertility, exposing the bare surface to errosion by wind and water, and potentially enter the water table. They work for a while, but eventually weeds will return, and you will need to keep pumping more poison into the soil and environment.

Roundup doesn't prevent growth - it is a post-emergent contact herbicide that must be applied to the living plant tissue in the proper concentration to work. Roundup, applied correctly in the right concentration, will kill almost all vascular plants from weeds to trees. It also doesn't poison the environment, for it beaks down to harmless chemicals in just a few days.

If you have exposed dirt you will have some weeds that require removal. If you were to pave the world in concrete, weeds would spring up in the cracks...
Roundup only kills the weeds that it touches. It does not kill the weed seeds that are still dormant in the ground. For that you need a pre-emergent herbicide.

I honestly use Scott's Weed&Feed and Scott's Turfbuilder and never have a problem. Any weeds that do pop up I just hand pull them.

Unfortunately you cannot stop all weeds from growing in your yard, but you can reduce the amount by using the right stuff.

Over watering your lawn can also favor a weed explosion. Most lawns only need 1 1/2 inches of water per week.
Sodium chlorate is what you need. It will kill everything for at least a year.
