What kind of fertilizer (or anything else) can i use to fix my lawn?

Question:its got a lot of crab grass and goatheads? is there anyway i get rid of it?

Answers:
I don't know what goat heads are, but it's a little late to deal with the crabgrass.. I understand that weed-b-gone now offers a crabgrass formula, but I haven't used it myself.

For crabgrass, it's usually best to apply a pre-emergent in the spring. Something with Halts works well.

If goat heads are a broadleaf weed, you can probably deal with them by using weed-b-gone. it doesn't kill grass, just broadleafs.

Fertilize with a lawn fertilizer.. higher nitrogen. Apply at half rate this time of year or prepare to do a lot of watering.. Summer isn't the best time to fertilize.

your best course would be to put a lot of effort into your lawn this fall.. aerate your soil, overseed with grass seed. apply gypsum and lime and fertilize. hopefully your lawn will fill in nicely with the cooler temps of fall and your lawn will look better next year.

in the spring, get a fertilizer/pre-emergent combination and apply. Spot treat any weeds with weed-b-gone. mow your grass at the highest setting and do it religiously.. at least weekly.

Good luck!
