In the Northern Midwest area... What plants can thrive in only an hour or two of direct sunlight?

Question:I need suggestions for plants suitable for planting in the ground that will be OK getting approx 2 hours of direct sunlight per day. I other words, they have to be able to survive direct summer sun but they will only get a few hours of it.

Answers:
I'd say any shade loving plants would be your best bet.

I do not think however that any vegetable type plants will be a candidate for this, but some herbs can also be grown in half sun/shade, but your "garden" doesn't sound like that either.

Lemon balm & mints will do alright in the shade.

Hostas (I think that's how it is spelled) are a perennial (they come back every year)

Impatients are a flowering anual.
From foxgloves to bay bush, there's a vast range of botany you can tap into. Just go the your garden centre and ask, or beg from friends and neighbours who have cuttings/roots to spare. If no direct sun, do they get direct rain? If not you might have a water problem!
Northern Midwest of where? You need a plant that needs shade for most of the day. Try a fern!
