How much water should I be giving a 6' autumn blaze maple tree?

Question:I live in michigan and the soil is very sandy. Currently the temps are in the 70s and 80s with little rain.

Answers:
if you just planted it then water every day 5 to 10 gal's, if was not just planted 2 to 5 gal's a day until it rains then leave it to fend for it's self it will do OK then

About 15 gallons would be a healthy amount
The best way to water trees is by a soak-er hose..Spread it around the tree at the end of the trees longest reaching branches..that is where the roots are..turn on water enough so u see it bubbling out..water for two hours every10 to 14 days..use it less if you have rain..
You should water most landscape trees, including maple, deeply but infrequently. This means applying water slowly until the soil is moist down about 2 to 3 feet. This should provide enough moisture for the tree for one to two weeks. If your soil is so sandy that it drains too quickly, slightly shorter intervals between irrigation may be necessary. If you planted it in your lawn area, it should get enough water when you water the grass as long as you watered it in well when planting. Remember to winter water if you are not getting snow. About five gallons a month should do.
