What is the best why to get my grass to grow?
Question:

Well, without a little more information about the problem you`re having, it`ll be kinda hard to answer correctly but here are a few tips. Maybe they`ll help.
1. If you simply have bare spots you want to fill in, work the dirt as loose as possible a little larger across than the actual bare spot even a little into the existing grass with a shovel & rake, keeping in mind that grass roots need at Least 3 inches of growing room. When you dig into the existing grass, you can see how deep they are.
Use a rototiller if you can beg/borrow/rent one. Sure saves the back! Scatter your seeds and either "Till" again or use the back of your garden rake to cover the seeds well.
If you`re not sure what seed to get, take a small handful (roots and all) to a local nursery or landscaping company. They can tell you what it is. OR, if you prefer and your neighbors/city won`t jump on you, don`t cut the existing grass and let it grow its Own seed. This way you`ll KNOW the grass will grow in your areas. I won`t get into how to dry and germinate the seeds at this point. Long and boring.
2. If your grass is yellowing or dying out, check to see if old grass clippings are too deep and heavily compacted, thereby choking the grass, and Starving the roots of oxygen and much needed nutrient from the sun. This is a common cause when people Always use a "mulching" mower. If this is indeed happening in your lawn, it will have to be aerated at the Very least. All kinds of aerators are for rent at Home Depots and tool rental shops. I personally am a DIY deluxe and simply use a garden rake to "dig up" the heavier compacted clippings then use a leaf rake to rake it in piles to pick up. If you have access to a lawn Vacuum all the better. A blower will work you to death. You CAN simply use a hay fork and simply poke a LOT of holes in it but if you want Great grass, best to clean it outta` dere.
3. If the places where your grass is not growing is Heavily shaded from a tree(s?) pruning it/them so that the sun can get through to the ground will work wonders. If the shade is from a fixed structure i.e building etc. or pruning does`nt help,
you might have to sow Fescue seeds or some Other shade tolerant grass. Again, this is a question to ask the nursery or landscaper as they know what will work best in Your particular part of the country.
With All of the above get some Miracle Gro Lawn Food. They have kits with a sprayer bottle that fits on the end of your hose. Simply follow their directions on the package. WONDERFUL stuff!
Hope this helps. Good Luck with it!

Grass seeds are the best and water them everyday.
Depends on where you live
It's a bit late, but fertilizer is key. Do it quick and follow the directions. Water the lawn every day for a couple of weeks, preferably in the morning or at dusk - otherwise the water will evaporate in the sun.
If you already have a lawn and you just need it to grow thicker, faster, greener, SCOTT'S TURF BUILDER is amazing. I highly recommend it.
I like the product Revive. Attach your hose to it and spray it over the lawn.
