My newly planted hydrangea bush is beginning to die!?

Question:I have a problem. I just planted 4 hydrangea bushes last night. 3 of them seem to be ok but going in to shock slowly while the one is nearly dead!
We live in zone 5. The soil is clay. We planted the shrubs following the instructions and watered them a lot. We used aluminum sulfate because we want blue.
My b-friend told me to use 1 cup of the stuff around the roots of each bush and then cover the rest of the roots with soil. Then he told me to add another cup. I thought we should just mix it in with the soil.

What do I do to bring my plants back to health? They were expensive! At this point, I don't think I even care about the color of the flowers. I just want the plants to turn back green!

Answers:
You probably put too much. You'll need to amend the soil again. Maybe add some sand and something else to make it less acidic. Call you local nursery or go to HGTV.com and look it up on their website.

hydrangea need ALOT of water. Even if you feel you have watered adequately - you may need to 'slow water' at the root base. Turn our hose on very low, allow a slight stream to trickle out and place the hose at the base of the newly transplanted bush. Allow it to sit there for about 5-10 minutes and allow the water to soak deep into the root ball. Hopefully, this will bring it back to life. Good luck!
You may want just to have patience. I thought that mine had died..there was no green at all, just dead sticks last fall.
I went out to dig up their spot and replant this spring and they both were growing leaves.
Try just giving it time.
hydraengas donnt do well in direct afternoon sun, they get to hot.maybe you should move them to the east side of your home,if you didnt.try to water morning and night.be patient and remember hydraengas bloom on dead wood.
