Will earwigs kill my Calla Lilly plant?

Question:I'm currently in my garden planting perrenials etc. I pulled back my weed block to plant a calla lilly plant and there are tons (like a nest) of earwigs! Yuck! How do I get rid of those buggers? Anyway, should I go ahead and plant said plant anyway, or will the earwigs end up eating roots and killing it? There are currently some dwarf spruces in the area and they are doing great, but not sure about this.

Answers:
They will not kill the plant, but will shred leaves and chew out buds. Earwig traps (crushed newspaper in upturned flowerpots, placed on canes) will trap a large number. Spraying is not really worthwhile as Earwigs are mainly nocturnal and difficult to locate.
