Landscaping Mulch Question.?

Question:I do i tell how much MULCH i will need to MULCH my flower beds? I bought 100ft. open real tape measure and i don't know what to do know.

Answers:
Measure the length & width of each flower bed - that is your square footage.
Bagged mulch will indicate how many square feet it will cover per bag.
Proper mulching depth is 2-3 inches of mulch.

Enjoy & good luck!

You will need about two -three inch cover of mulch in your flower beds for the summer to help conserve water. I don't know if you know this trick--but it works well--If you have flowers already planted (small ones) put a large paper cup over the plant and then put your mulch out -- after the mulch is on the beds -take off the paper cup and you have not covered the flower with mulch. Mulch is so very good at conserving water --I live in a very dry part of the country and we use mulch to help grow everything to keep the soil moist. Make the world beautiful where you live with your flower beds.
Use your tape measure to find the total square footage of the beds you want to mulch. Take that number and multiply it by 0.25 (3" depth) and then divide by 27. This will give you the Cubic Yards. Mulch is generally sold in Cubic Yards.
If you take measurements to a local garden center they can tell you how much mulch you need I suggest buying it in bulk not bags save you alot of money as for the labor cost its usually double the price of product. so if mulch cost $100 you charge $200.
