Is this a blackberry tree?

Question:Down the block from where I live is a tree that appears to grow blackberries. But I'm used to picking blackberries from thorny bushes about five feet high. This is a twenty foot tree that overhangs the sidewalk. But the berries, which fall in great number, look just like blackberries, just not as plump. Since they're all over the sidewalk, they get crushed and seem to smell much like blackberries as well. Does anyone know what kind of tree this is. Are the berries edible?

Answers:
Sounds like a Mullberry Tree to me my grandparents have one.The fruit is not as plump as a blackberry, kind of skinny and long. But there very tangy and super sweet,or at least the ones I am talking about are.But they also have a lot of bugs on them,so before you eat them you might want to wash them of,Then again bugs have protean,LOL Please ingore the fact that I can't spell LOL,Also when there really ripe and you pick them the juice gets all over your hands and its very hard to get off.Dont let it get on your clothes or they will be stained for life.LOL Try to get a picture of the tree from the enternet or somthing and make sure its a mulberry before you eat its berrys.I could be wrong and it could be a pousinis plant.Like I said I can't spell !!

i think this is a mullberry.
be VERY careful. i can't see the berries so i don't know. but they could be something piousness. so be careful. bring a berry to your local nursery and see what they say it is.
A tree that grows Black Berrys? I thatught they were made by motorola... Hmmmmm. Can I access my exchange server-email with it too Hmmm Does the stock holders of motorola know this??? Hmmm
mulberry tree, you can eat them, but they are not as tasty as blackberries.
Blackberries grow on a bush or vine Mulberries grow on trees so I would say it's a mulberry tree .
These are mulberries. Enjoy them as I do on my walks. Taste varies from fruit of different trees.
look carefully at the leaves. If you see several different design leaves on it, it is probably a mulberry, but there are several different types of mulberry - so look the leaves up in a tree book. If they are mulberries, you can eat them. They don't have much taste, but if you eat them all that will stop the bees from getting all over the place when they fall on the sidewalk.
