Why is Los Angeles such a dump?
Question:Why is it that nobody ever cleans up? All the streets are so dirty. With the exception of places like Culver City and Beverly Hills. But why are the streets so dirty and much of the landscaping is neglected? Also why don't the mexican gardeners ever put fertilizer on the lawns? That's why most lawns look unhealthy out here. They are watered, just no fertilizer so it's not a healthy virgin green.
Why are the Freeways so trashy? Why isn't any of the graffiti cleaned up. Why isn't all of the weeds pulled out and all the trash sweeped up? Why is the I405 such a dump? Why can't they paint over the graffiti and paint murals and just paint it some design to just make it look good.
Why is Los Angeles such a dump?
Answers:
Why why why.
1) Yes, people are slobs. I don't know what pisses me off more in LA, the trash on the sides of the freeways, or the fact that 25% of it is beer cans and bottles. Hello! Do you really need to drink a beer on the 710? As if it's safe when people are sober!
2) People plant the wrong stuff that just doesn't do well down here. Grass is a pain in the butt to keep green anywhere in the country, or else there wouldn't be books and about a thousand people asking about it constantly.
3) Grafitti is just something you need to live with. I would be pissed if it was on my property, but as long as it is not blacking out a traffic sign (which it normally does), I don't care about it. I can't read the gang territory markers, so I guess it doesn't bother me as much.
But yes, LA is a dump. A dump with little islands of nice neighborhoods. Be thankful you don't live next to the end of the LA river where it dumps into the Long Beach harbor. Then you really get a taste of what pollution is.thanks to people who can't throw their In-N-Out trash in a dumpster.
Because most people are slobs.
I live in L.A. and our neighborhod is clean. Where exactly do you live?
It's either poor financial planning on the part of the city/county, or lack of funds (which is doubtful). Apparently, they have not appropriated the correct funds for maintenance of public property and roadways. As far as the freeways, if they are state highways, those funds come from the state.
As far as personal lawns, it's up to the property owner to request and pay for their lawns to be fertilized. So, possibly of lack of pride of ownership.
Instead of being concerned about the Mexican gardners not putting enough fertilizer on the lawn, you should be concerned about why they are able to work in this country illegally. You have your priorities mixed up. Maybe if you and others get their priorities right, and take action, like writing to local congressman and senators and protesting illegals, something may get done.
Think you have it bad? Try living in Detroit.
so do something about it. organize a neighborhood cleanup effort. if no one signs up, get a hefty bag and do it by yourself. every little bit helps.
and as for the rest of the city and the graffiti...write a letter to the editor of the newspaper. contact local officials. do something about it, and encourage others to join you.
i couldn't stand to live in a city known around the country as a dump.
